Veteran Polish actor Jerzy Stuhr (The Decalogue; Kingsize) leads a strong cast in this coming-of-age story based on real-life events. A handsome young musician named Gypsy busts out of jail one week before his release. He blows into town, where he meets and falls madly in love with 16-year-old Agatha, the daughter of an old-school Communist. Daddy demands that his dutiful daughter stop seeing her new boyfriend, but Agatha and Gypsy hit the road instead. Based on an actual event from the early 1990s in which the daughter of a Polish politician ran away with her beau, HIJACKING AGATHA captures the end of the Solidarity era in Poland.
